This program combines General Literacy for Adults with General Numeracy for Adults. Learners also have the option to participate in only one of the programs (literacy or numeracy).
Course details:
Literacy: This program has been designed for learners who are wanting to develop their reading, writing and spoken English skills for employment or future study purposes. Learners of this program will complete tasks that focus on:
- Developing basic grammatical knowledge and skills (e.g. spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, sentence structuring, phonemic awareness etc.)
- Developing reading and comprehension skills with a variety of text types (e.g. workplace documents, reports, procedures, visual texts, charts/graphs, tables etc.)
- Writing/constructing a variety of text types (reports, persuasive texts, procedures, narrative texts, data representations etc.)
- Developing confidence with verbal communication (speaking, listening and use of language).
Numeracy: This program has been designed for learners who are wanting to develop their mathematical problem solving skills for employment or future study purposes. The following concepts are covered across this program:
- Basic equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
- Numeric Conversions (percentages, decimals and fractions)
- Measurement
- Time
- Money
- Directions
- Using collected data/statistics to identify patterns and relationships.
