CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

Overview

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement and meet the requirements of an approved learning framework, the Early Childhood Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations, and the National Quality Standard. Diploma qualified educators are also responsible for supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development through documenting relevant information for children’s individual profiles to plan activities, provide care to children, facilitating their play and leisure and enabling them to achieve their developmental and learning outcomes. They will learn how to use and implement organisational policies and procedures. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of at least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:

  • Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or
  • CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
